Class Descriptions

Earth

Earth is life, stability, birth and nurturing. Our Earth level is a fundamentals class designed to help you build a firm foundation for your practice. Learn the basics in a detailed manner and focus on the foundational and core postures of yoga. Begin to build awareness of body and breath in releasing stress patterns. This class is also for students who enjoy a gentler practice while still penetrating the stress and blockages in the body and mind.

Air

Air is mind, intellect, imagination and flight. Air is breath and migrational energies. Air level is a transitional class in which we introduce you to the yoga of fluid movement, linking mind, body and breath. This class incorporates the meditative experience of hatha and vinyasa flow to help build gentle heat in the body. Students will deepen their awareness of breath and engage in simple breathing and meditation techniques.

Water

Water is fluidity of movement, erosion of material form, wisdom, purity, and energy. Water Level is an intermediate class designed to challenge both body and mind for the cultivation of wisdom and intuition. This intermediate experience incorporates stronger breathing practices, deeper meditative awareness, and bandhas, the energetic locks in the body. Water is a balanced practice for the advanced practitioners, and a welcome challenge for the Level I/Air practitioners.

Fire

Fire is warmth, strength, light, and transformation. Fire Level is an advanced class, in the form of either tropical yoga (heated yoga up to 80*) or advanced hatha/flow yoga. With awareness of our intention of health, healing and wholeness, our Fire classes are opportunities to experience the body deeply while guiding the mind to remain open, grounded, and embracing of whatever may show up physically. (Yoga is never to be used as a tool of escape, or of pushing the body unconsciously from aggression or aversion.) The ancient teachings of yoga offer our Fire practitioners a conscious guide in the exploration of a deeper practice of agility, strength, endurance, openness and flexibility in both body and mind.

Svaroopa Yoga

Svaroopa® is a meditative style of Hatha yoga that uses familiar yoga poses to create deep openings in the muscles around the spine. As the deep-seated layers of tension in your body begin to unravel, you will experience many physical and emotional improvements, such as relief of back pain and shoulder and neck tension, improved digestion, a boost in the immune system, and an increased sense of well-being. Props are used in many poses to meet the tensions in the body, and to enable students to get into the precise alignments that will allow the release of the muscles. These Core Openings create healing and personal transformation, and help you discover svaroopa, the bliss of your own being.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a more passive form of yoga. It focuses on the ligaments, tendons and all the connective tissue of the lower back, hips, and thighs. Unlike the muscles, which stretch like rubber bands, the connective tissues stretch slowly and require gentleness and ease. Therefore, Yin postures are held for 3 to 5 minutes at a time. This type of practice complements the muscle driven hatha forms of yoga which are widely practiced and is great for anyone who is athletically active, those who sit in chairs many hours each day, and those who wish to sit in meditation. In short, it is great for everyone!

Dancemeditation

A healing practice designed to reconnect us with our bodies through movement, writing, chanting & whirling. Dancemeditation will bring you into a state of oneness through physical focus and release. It is energizing to the body and fulfilling to the soul.

Laughter Yoga

A playful combination of yogic breathing and unconditional laughter!

Meditation

An untrained unsettled mind creates stress and tension which in turn can lead to chronic illness and disease. Let us help you start and maintain your meditation practice.
